"Marui" consumed by sorrow and longing for her homeland, refrains from washing her locks, smiling, or even eating** She remains preoccupied with thoughts of whether "Umar" (king) will show compassion and release her** Her disappointment in his lack of fairness weighs heavily on her heart** "O "Umar" (king)! You shall be held accountable for the distress inflicted upon this damsel**"

  • Marvi does not wash her locks. She does not smile or laugh. She does not even take food. All the time she is worried whether Umar was humane enough to release her. The fact is that she was very much disappointed in his fairness. “(O Omar! you shall have to render account for this harassment of the damsel (on the Day of Judgement)”. (This is what the poet warns.)

Maarui washes not her tresses, laughs not and eats not,
    And mulls over Umer's justice,
"The dameges you have done will confront you."
